Single Storey Rear Extension – January 2007

In 2007 we needed builders to demolish an existing flat roofed, single storey rear extension on our roof. We wanted this to be replaced by a larger, side and rear extension with a pitched roof. The design, particularly of the roof, had posed a few problems and the fact that mining subsidence in the past has left us with a certain amount of tilt added extra problems for any builders taking on the project.

From the first time we met Sean and Pete we were impressed. They were very approachable, enthusiastic and good humoured and seemed keen to make the process run smoothly for us as possible with the minimum inconvenience. We were invited to see them at work on their current job and to see extensions they had recently completed, all of which we were impressed with. We were also promised that when they start a job they stay on it until it’s finished, which was very reassuring after experiences we’ve had with builders in the past “disappearing” for days on end. Our difficult decision was made : S. & P. Hewitt were the men for the job!

Work began on Friday 9th November and right from the beginning each stage of the process was carefully discussed with us. Storage of deliveries and siting of skips was arranged to cause a minimum of disruption and the site was left as tidy as possible each night.

Years of experience has helped them pull together an excellent team of plumbers, electricians, plasterers etc. all carefully organised and coordinated to ensure there were no delays in construction. Every member in their team proved reliable, skilled, cheerful and cooperative, ensuring that the job ran smoothly from start to finish. Any snags encountered were seen as an interesting challenge and overcome with good humour and a minimum of fuss. It was a pleasure to see Sean, Pete and co, enjoying their work and taking such a pride in doing a good job.

Our extension was completed in early January, much earlier than we’d expected, and due mainly to thne fact that Sean and Pete has been true to their word and stayed on the job until it was completed. We are delighted with the results and the standard of workmanship and have no hesitation in recommending S. & P. Hewitt (Construction) Ltd. for your building project.
